Family of Five needs place to stay (west hills)

I met a family staying in the living room of an acquaintance. Dad is trying to get work but they are unable to continue staying at present place. They have 3 kids 9th.8th, and 6th. I have hooked him up with day labor until something else opens up. He has alot of maintenance experience and construction. Only been in area a few months. The mission family housing is full and they don't want to be split up.
Does anyone have a basement or something nearby they could stay in while the parents save for an apartment. Kids are in school so would like something near. They don't have any furniture. I put gas in the car, but don't have any room at my place.
They don't want a handout, and would hardly accept my offer of gas. He will do maintenance, yard work, painting, etc in trade for roof over their head. They are sleeping on the floor of a living room, so even a 1 bedroom would be appreciated. I think he could have a deposit and rent in 6-8 weeks. There is no criminal background but credit history is as guessed not the best. It made finding a place difficult.
They don't have internet or phone either, so I would have to go to them and relay help. Email me and I can call you for them or let them use my cell.
Thank you for any help. I have been checking into thins around town, and there isn't much for families.
